Traffic Management Parish Update.
Work requests - Somerset Council are restricted to statutory jobs with no capital budget. Therefore funding for traffic calming measures or pedestrian crossings remains the responsibility of parish councils. A feasibility study would need to be carried out by the Infrastructure Development Team (Basic 4-6 weeks, £3-6,000, Intermediate 12-16 weeks, £8-12,000 and Enhanced 20plus weeks, £12-20,000). before parish councils funded an approved 3rd party contractor to complete the job.
SIDs (Speed Indicator Devices). New documentation is required to be signed for those parishes with one. N.B. There is a minimum height clearance of 2.1m within footways.
Contractors:
SC unable to give further info as to when works will be completed once the work has been handed over to Kier and there is work still in hand from last year.
Parking Order Amendments.
Note that parish councils should do a pre-consultation to ensure there is public support before submitting parking requests.
White Lining - Faded/worn markings to be reported so work can be carried out in the warmer weather.
Reporting issues: The website has been updated enabling all to report issues such as abandoned vehicles, missing name plates, vegetation issues etc.
